so writing those tags on that post really made me think…
larries are actually FRIGHTENED. they’re frightened of a lot of things, actually and it’s why they lash out so angrily and viciously all the time.
when they lash out at ex-larries who may or may not have been their close personal friends, it’s because they’re scared of what the means for their follow count, what it means for the Larry fandom. it means someone so entrenched in the larriedom managed to escape that group-think and come to the conclusion that they were wrong. it means it’s one less person to manipulate and one MORE person to make the rest think, “huh - are they onto something?”. fear of losing a base to manipulate = lashing out at ex-larries by painting them as “stupid” or “dramatic”, for “seeing the truth and turning away from it anyways”. why did amy in particular lash out at allegedlymags, an ex-larrie, by saying mags fabricated the passing of her mother?? to denounce mags, make her sound like a liar and a fraud so why should any of amy’s followers pay attention to her changing opinion of larry anyways? the fear of losing part of the larrie fan base drove amy to writing nasty things about a fellow larrie she used to be on good terms with.
when they lash out at antis, well…i think we all know why. the existence of “antis”, who spend their time debunking and correcting their outlandish posts, poses a huge threat to their little larrie bubble. with antis around, their work at trying to shove Larry-negative things under the rug becomes difficult, as antis are usually there to correct them or remind them that YES that actually did happen! they lash out at antis because they show everyone the other side that nobody would otherwise be exposed to. they allow even further opportunity for their minions to question what they say and discover the truth behind all of those larrie-veiled stories the fandom tends to pass around as gospel. why did amy in particular lash out at @mysticalharry by reblogging her picture and inviting her followers to go after her? because Kayla was highlighting her ugly behaviour - and that scared amy bc it meant the possibility of her followers seeing that and realizing how nasty she truly is.
finally, when they lash out at briana and danielle, this is the simplest of them all - they’re scared of everything it means about louis’ sexuality. regardless of the fact that (most) larries manage to conveniently erase bisexuality as a valid sexuality and continue to insist that louis is GAY GAY GAY, larries view his relationships with both briana and Danielle as threatening as they greatly oppose their grand idea that louis detests females (and VAGINA!!!). briana and louis’ relationship resulted in the birth of a child which sets larries off the most because…we all know what it takes to make a baby, right larries? freddie’s existence hinges on the fact that briana and louis engaged in sexual activity and GASP if louis is gay and eternally devoted to harry, how could this be possible? instead of going, “well maybe Larry isn’t real”, larries turn instead to, “well louis having sex w a woman and having a child isn’t possible. therefore i will direct all my hatred at this bitch for closeting my precious baby”. that right there is fear - fear of being INCREDIBLY wrong about literally everything revolving around louis and harry for the past five years, fear of taking responsibility for any ill behaviour they’ve participated in over the past few years, fear of realizing that maybe they WERE/ARE hurting harry and louis in the process of doing something they were so sure they were right about. when amy makes fun of Briana’s face, claims she’s had plastic surgery, makes web domains that target her family and angrily criticizes her ability as a new mother - that’s FEAR at play. the fear that briana single-handedly destroys everything they stand for has them lashing out and directing their hatred at her to quell that terror, to convince themselves that they aren’t wrong.
the next time any of you engage with a larrie and they start to spit vitriol at you - whether you’re an ex-larrie, an anti, someone who’s simply defending briana or danielle - take pride in the fact that you’ve SCARED them. you’ve scared them because you made a sensible argument somewhere down the line and tapped into some small sliver of their brain that’s still hanging on to reality. and the only way to clamp down on that reality-driven part of their brain that scares them so much is to spew as much hatred as they can. take it as a sign that you’re getting through to them :)
